City Meet Information
It is time to end our season with the 2023 GKAISA Championship City Meet. MAFD is taking 21 swimmers on Thursday and 31 swimmers on Friday for a total of 52 swimmers. That is over 50% of our team! Great job Dolphins! Many of our families attending this year are new to City Meet. Here is the information you’ll need to help you be prepared. Please don’t hesitate to ask questions if we haven’t covered something. There will be a board member available at Wed night practice to walk thru information and answer questions. City Meet Clerk of Course: (for new parents)
Two pools and CoCs are running simultaneously. This makes for a fast meet, and confusing to get to CoC on time. Girls events are all ODD numbers. Boys events are all EVEN numbers. And events are numbered for ALL ages (both days). So each CoC will NOT be sequential. Keep that in mind. Mixed relays are the first events each day and run in girls CoC and pool. If a swimmer is not in CoC by 3rd call, they will be scratched from that event. Go to CoC at 1st call. Note for THUR swimmers: do NOT take anything with you to CoC other than cap & goggles. NO towel, clothes or shoes. Leave these with a parent or in the tent.
Parents are NOT allowed inside Clerk of Course or on the pool deck at ANY time. You will drop off your swimmer at CoC in back of the building and then walk around building to enter main door at front to watch your swimmer. Then you can meet your swimmer at the side of the building as they exit after event.
They use twitter to announce events in water and calls to CoC. GKAISACITYMEET@GKAISAOfficial
Helpful Parent Info:
We will have a team tent to sit under. It is located outside on grass. Bring chairs, ground towels, food & drink. There is a concession stand (hot dogs, pretzels, drinks, candy) inside. There will be heat sheets available to purchase. The tent parent will have one heat sheet for team to share. For 10 and under: Please put child’s last name on shoulder and event numbers on arm. Bring backup battery for phone (if needed). Drop off on street available past AJIAC, but no stationary cars (or bring wagon for transporting from parking).
There is NO flash photography allowed inside. Turn off flash to take photos. Your child’s name will be on the scoreboard during their race. These are removed quickly after time displayed, so have that camera ready if you want to catch it.
All results are posted in hallway behind spectator seating. Any swimmer(s) placing 1st-16th in their event will return on Saturday for finals.
